Labiaplasty in Turkey (Antalya)

The size or shape of the inner labia can cause friction, hygiene problems, discomfort during sport or sex, and worries about appearance. At your consultation I examine the tissue with you, listen to what you expect and explain the limits of the procedure clearly. Only then do I plan your labiaplasty, and I can discuss everything with you in English or German.

The Basics

What is labiaplasty?

Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure to reduce the size or reshape the inner labia (labia minora) on either side of the vaginal opening. The size, shape and color of the inner labia vary greatly from person to person, and most of these differences are normal.

01

Natural variation

It is common for the inner labia to differ in size or to extend beyond the outer labia, and this is usually not a medical problem.

02

Physical symptoms

In some people, noticeable excess tissue can cause friction, irritation, hygiene difficulties or discomfort during intercourse.

03

Different from outer labia procedures

Labiaplasty usually involves the inner labia. Sagging or volume loss of the outer labia (labia majora) is assessed with different methods.

Doctor’s note

What to know before your appointment

These are the practical tips I give my patients most often. I explain your personal instructions at the consultation.

Timing your visit

An appointment on a day when you are not having your period makes the examination easier.

What to bring

Bring a list of your medications, especially blood thinners, and details of any previous operations.

On the day

Wear loose, comfortable clothing and cotton underwear. If sedation is planned, someone should accompany you home.

First weeks

Avoid cycling, horse riding and tight trousers for a while. I explain hygiene and aftercare for the area in detail.

2

Main surgical techniques

The most commonly used approaches are edge (trim) resection, where excess tissue is removed along the edge, and wedge resection, where a wedge of tissue is removed from the middle section.

Who Is It For?

When is labiaplasty considered?

We decide on labiaplasty together, based on your physical symptoms, the examination findings and your expectations. These are the most common reasons my patients come to me:

Important: The appearance of the inner labia varies across a wide range. The procedure should only be planned at the person’s own request and after they have been informed about its possible results and limitations. A more cautious approach is needed at a young age, before genital development is complete.

Before the Procedure

Pre-procedure assessment

At the consultation my aim is to listen to your concerns and expectations, assess the inner labia together with the clitoral hood and outer labia, and openly share the suitable technique, possible results and limitations.

Step by Step

How does labiaplasty work in Antalya?

I tailor the plan to each patient; the process usually follows these four steps.

1

Consultation

I listen to your concerns, expectations and medical history with full respect for your privacy.

2

Examination & consent

After the examination I explain the method, risks and limitations clearly and ask for your informed consent.

3

Labiaplasty

I perform the procedure under the anesthesia plan we agreed on, usually with dissolvable stitches.

4

Follow-up

I explain your aftercare step by step, and we check your healing together at follow-up visits.

Surgical Technique

How is labiaplasty surgery performed?

I remove the excess tissue with care for the natural edge and function of the inner labia and close it with fine dissolvable stitches. I choose the suitable technique at the examination according to the amount and shape of the tissue and your expectations.

Edge (trim) resection

Excess tissue is removed along the outer edge of the inner labia. It may be preferred for darker or irregular edges.

Wedge resection

A wedge of tissue is removed from the middle section, preserving the natural edge.

Combined with hoodoplasty

If there is also excess tissue of the clitoral hood, both procedures can be planned in the same session for a proportionate result.

Anesthesia

The procedure can usually be performed under local anesthesia or sedation; same-day discharge is generally possible.

Balanced planning: Over-reducing the inner labia can cause dryness, sensitivity and leave the vaginal opening unprotected. A measured approach that preserves function is therefore essential.

After the Procedure

Recovery after labiaplasty

Swelling, tenderness and bruising are common in the first days and usually decrease noticeably within a few weeks. Dissolvable stitches disappear on their own. It can take a few months for the tissue to reach its final appearance.

What to keep in mind during recovery

Seek medical help without delay if you notice

Be patient: Early swelling may make the area look temporarily asymmetric. Wait for healing to be complete before judging the final appearance.

Travelling for treatment? If you are coming to Antalya for this procedure, plan your stay so that the early follow-up visit can take place before you return home. Discuss the timing of your flight and your return to work with me during the pre-operative consultation.

Patient Safety

Possible risks and side effects

Labiaplasty is a planned surgical procedure, but like any surgery it carries some risks. I discuss your personal risks with you in detail before the procedure.

Wound separation

The stitch line may open or healing may be delayed; in some cases a revision may be needed.

Asymmetry

Tissues may heal differently and asymmetry may develop.

Over-resection

This may cause dryness, sensitivity or discomfort during intercourse.

Change in sensation

Temporary or, rarely, permanent changes in sensitivity may occur.

Bleeding and hematoma

Bleeding or a collection of blood may develop at the surgical site.

Infection and scarring

Fever, increasing pain or redness should be assessed; rarely, a noticeable scar or hardness may develop.

Myths & Facts

Myths and facts about labiaplasty

Below are the misconceptions I hear most often in my consultations, and what the medical evidence actually says.

Myth

“Inner labia that extend beyond the outer labia are abnormal.”

Fact

Inner labia extending beyond the outer labia is a common variation that is usually considered normal.

Myth

“Both inner labia should be identical.”

Fact

Mild asymmetry is very common and usually not a medical problem.

Myth

“Labiaplasty definitely improves sexual life.”

Fact

Physical symptoms such as friction or discomfort may decrease, but the effect on sexual life varies between people and cannot be guaranteed.

Myth

“The smaller, the better.”

Fact

Over-reduction can cause dryness, sensitivity and discomfort. The aim is a balanced result that preserves function.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently asked questions about labiaplasty in Antalya

These are the questions my patients ask me most often. We clarify the answer for your own situation together after an examination.

Local anesthesia or sedation is used so that you do not feel pain during the procedure. Soreness, tenderness and swelling may occur for a few days afterwards, and you can use the painkillers I recommend.

Avoiding intercourse for four to six weeks is generally recommended. We decide the exact period together at a follow-up visit, based on your healing.

Swelling is usually most noticeable in the first days and decreases within a few weeks. Mild swelling may persist, and the tissue may take a few months to reach its final shape.

Because incisions are usually planned along natural edges and folds, scars are often not noticeable. However, healing varies from person to person and scarring cannot be completely prevented.

Labiaplasty generally does not prevent a vaginal birth. As the tissues in the area may be affected during childbirth, please share your pregnancy plans with me before the procedure.

Yes. If there is also excess tissue of the clitoral hood, both procedures can be planned in the same session for a proportionate result. I assess whether this is suitable for you during the examination.

Most people with desk jobs can return to work within a few days to a week. It may take longer for jobs that involve standing for long periods or physical effort.
